Transcription is the first step of genetic expression. Transcription reaction is catalyzed by
RNA polymerases that, along with other protein factors, copy genetic
information from genome to messenger RNA (mRNA), in three main steps:
initiation, elongation, and termination. This is a mechanism which uses 3’-5’
DNA strand as a template in mRNA synthesis. This process in eukaryotes occurs
in the nucleus and in prokaryotes occurs in the nucleoid.
